Take Action

Life is full of twists and turns, ups and downs, struggles and victories, bad and good times, ugly and beautiful situations, and the list continues.

The vast majority of the outcome of life is what you do or fail to do, how you choose to respond. You are always taking action because even if you decide not to act, is an action probably in the wrong direction. The question however, is, are your actions propelling you in the direction of your goals and purpose? You see, if you fail to take deliberate actions that produce the results you seek consistently, life will get pretty boring.

If you want to live your best life then you must stand up for what you believe in and act accordingly. Become the change you want to see and act on those things that you are passionate about.

Maybe for you it’s giving encouragement to those who need it, honestly, who doesn’t need to be encouraged?. Or maybe it’s standing up for the oppressed and defenseless. Or maybe it’s tutoring others at school who have a hard time understanding complex materials. Or maybe it’s being there for a friend or family when they need you. Or maybe it’s helping a mission that supports the hungry and/or homeless.

What is that one thing in your community…that you know you can do something about right now?

You are not here by accident, you are a divine orchestration and God made you for a purpose. He has created you to do good things that will enrich your community and by extension, the Earth.

So go out and do something that impacts others positively and watch the effects of the law of reciprocity on your life.

The Power of Persistence

Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. Calvin Coolidge

Nothing can stop a man or a woman of determination. However, your determination must be garnished with persistence to continue pushing when you’re tempted to quit in the face of uncertainties and difficulties.

You must regard failure as an opportunity to extract actionable insights, learn, and advance toward your goal more intelligently.

Focus On Possibilities

“When you focus on problems, you get more problems. When you focus on possibilities, you have more opportunities.”Zig Ziglar

From my experience, this is so true. Such a mindset draws your energy and attention to the problems with a focus on complaining, rather than accepting the realities and chosing to device a response mechanism that is solution oriented.

Critical thinking and creative problem solving skills are things everyone should hone. Life doesn’t get any easier, and if you choose the broad road of whining, complaining, and blaming everyone else but yourself, then you won’t go far.

Accepting that challenges or as I like to call them “character building opportunities” are a part of our journey as human beings will help you embrace them with the mindset of not to shy away but face them head-on.

Decide today to focus all your energy and drive on facing and solving the challenges life has placed on your path, because, they are your growth opportunities. If you dont work it out, no one will, and advancement will only be a dream that cannot be.

SIX LEADERSHIP PRINCIPLES TO LEARN FROM AN EAGLE

1. Eagles fly Alone and at High Altitudes.
They don’t fly with sparrows, ravens, and other small birds.

MEANING; Stay away from narrow-minded people, those that bring you down. Eagle flies with Eagles. Keep good company.

2. Eagles have an Accurate Vision. They have the ability to focus on something as far as 5km away. No matter the obstacles, the eagle will not move his focus from the prey until he grabs it.

MEANING; Have a vision and remain focused no matter what the obstacles and you will succeed.

3. Eagles do not Eat Dead things. They Feed only on Fresh Prey.

MEANING; Do not rely on your past success, keep looking for new frontiers to conquer. Leave your past where it belongs, in the past.

4. Eagles Love the Storm.
When clouds gather, the eagle gets excited, the eagle uses the storms wind to lift itself higher. Once it finds the wind of the storm, the eagle uses the raging storm to lift itself above the clouds. This gives the eagle an opportunity to glide and rest its wings. In the meantime, all the other birds hide in the branches and leaves of the tree.

MEANING; Face your challenges head on knowing that these will make you emerge stronger and better than you were. We can use the storms of life to rise to greater heights. Achievers are not afraid to rise to greater heights. Achievers are not afraid of challenges, rather they relish them and use them profitably.

5. Eagles Prepare for Training.
They remove the feathers and soft grass in the nest so that the young ones get uncomfortable in preparation for flying, and eventually flies when it becomes unbearable to stay in the nest.

MEANING; Leave your Comfort Zone, there is No Growth there.

6. At old age, the feathers become weak and cannot take the eagle as fast and as high as it should. This makes him weak and could make him die. So he retires to a place far away in the mountains. While there, he plucks out the weak feathers on his body and breaks its beaks and claws against the rocks until he is completely bare; a very bloody and painful process. Then he stays in this hiding place until he has grown new feathers, new beaks and claws and then he comes out flying higher than before.

MEANING; We occasionally need to shed off old habit no matter how difficult, things that burden us or add no value to our lives must go.

How To Unlock The Potential of Witnessing Your Thoughts

In the same way, life gets so busy that so many things pass us by, so it is with our minds. Some days your mind is so busy that your thoughts overwhelm you, while other days it is just quiet.

The mind can propel you to achieve your desired results in life, and if you can train it to reclaim its natural capability to stay in the present and only wander off to your pre-designed destination, then nothing within the human ability would be beyond your reach. Your mind is always racing with thoughts, some, you recognize while others, you don’t, just like your breath. This is because you are continuously choosing when, and how you want to process those thoughts, which your biases, experiences, knowledge, or lack of presence play a significant role.

One thing, for sure is this, thoughts will always be racing through your mind just like the flowing river. What will you do? Resist them? Hold on to them? Or do nothing?

Take a moment of silence and notice the overflow of thoughts pouring into your mind. Do not resist, hold, nor react to them. Can you pinpoint where your thoughts are coming from? Somewhere or nowhere? Can you label them? Do you know why these thoughts are popping up? Are you tempted to stop, or embrace them? Do you define yourself by them? Are you dazed by them?

Notice who or what is watching them pass, like the moving clouds. Can you see that you were the spectator? That you were, in fact, separate from your thoughts? If you choose to resist, hold, or react to any thought, you halt the process. This might be a good or an undesirable thing depending on whether you seek inner peace or chaos. Just as you use the ladder to climb up to get a task done, use the same to go down into your very depths to unravel the answers you seek.

You should apply this process of watching your thoughts as an independent entity to life’s challenges. When faced with inconvenient situations or even difficult people, and you are tempted to be anxious and angry, just step aside, break free from the entanglement, and choose the outcome you wish and then act accordingly. Remember not to react. Just like your thoughts, these too shall pass.
